~ Friday July 16th ~

++ Teen Music Showcase ++

Featuring teen bands from different music schools such as: The School of Rock, High School Jazz bands, Dusty Strings, and other music school sources.

Usual time of 8pm until midnight.

We had the first one last May [we skipped June because of school ending and the kids had a lot of school work and projects to wrap up!] From here on out, we hope to be able to have this showcase on the 3rd Friday of every month, so come on down and see what the kids are up to! The first showcase was a rousing good time and the kids produced a great evening of great music!

The Ballard Jazz Walk!

Featuring

Todd Bishop Pop Art 4

PERFORMING AT:

Ballard Jazz Walk
Fri, April 23, 8:00pm
Salmon Bay Eagles

“...meticulously molding musical soundscapes that can alternately seduce you to sleep, get you stoned, and make you feel all slinky and sexy. Brilliance without words.” - ANODYNE

Portland drummer Todd Bishop's latest project, Pop Art 4, explores the '60s in search of music by some of the most individualistic and dynamic performers of the time. With his first recording of the series, Bishop carries on in the tradition of his bands Flatland and Lower Monumental, sculpting ambient soundscapes as they deliver a modern, cinematic take on the songs of French pop-icon Serge Gainsbourg. Entitled "69 Année Erotique," the record features some of the Northwest's more creative performers and will be available in January 2009.

20th Anniversary of Blue Thursdays

At The Salmon Bay Eagles

Sunday January 17th 2010

During the past 2 decades, we have had a virtual parade of the finest local, as well as some national blues acts have crossed the modest stage of the Salmon Bay Eagles on Thursday evenings. In less than a minute I wrote down a dozen names of people and bands such as Little Bill And The Bluenotes, Mike Lynch and Nitelife, Duffy Bishop, Sweet Talkin’ Jones, Mark Defresne, Mark Riley, David Brewer, Jack Cook, Paul Green, Chris Stevens, Mark Whitman, Robbie Laws Trio, Tim Sherman, and many, many more that played the club during this period.  Let’s figure this out…20 years times 52 weeks equals 1,040 Blue Thursdays! No wonder that to this day, Blues musicians and bands continue to play the club as homage to the dedication of the club to this genre of American Roots Music. New musicians and newly formed bands in the area feel that they haven’t quite been accepted in the community until they have been hired to play a gig at this humble venue. The Washington Blues Society [check them out at www.wablues.org] has had a long standing, and close relationship with the Salmon Bay Eagles, off and on holding concerts, benefits as well as monthly Membership and Business meetings at the club. Due to its private club status, many people are reluctant to just walk in to hear the music and they feel that they have to be in the presence of an active member when they walk through that door. Not true! Anyone can walk through the door as a visitor and/or guest and enjoy the activities and events that occur in this all-ages venue! All visitors and guests need to check in with the bartender, who will orient them to the club and its activities. Due to this “Private club” status, the Salmon Bay Eagles has remained one of Seattle’s best kept secrets in the greater Seattle music scene. It’s a venue that the Blues community appreciates and, to a certain extent, reveres as the backbone of the Blues community, and certainly a major contributor in the history of the Blues community.
