Tim Sherman Band

Tim Sherman is an award-winning west coast blues guitarist, jazz banjoist and music educator…Tim has been performing blues on the west coast, Pacific NW and nationally for over 30 years. Tim Sherman is a Seattle blues guitar legend, having performed blues on the west coast, mid-west and Pacific Northwest for over thirty years. He is a three time recipient of the Washington Blues Society’s prestigious B.B. Award for Best Electric Guitarist. The great Little Milton called him “As good as Ronnie Earl” and no less than Buddy Guy was wowed by his playing at the nationally recognized Bumbershoot music festival.
Pine Top Perkins, long-time pianist for the great Muddy Waters, was so moved by Tim’s soulful guitar on a slow blues he joined him on stage at Seattle’s Highway 99 Blues Club.
His performing credits include the classic NW bands of Dick Powell, Stevie and the Blues Flames, Out of the Blue, the Tim Sherman Band, the Slackmasters, Led Jaxon and the Doug Lynn Band, The John Hodgkin Band, Paul Green and Straight Shot, Kim Field and the Mighty Titans of Tone, Nightlife, Blue and Lonesome and the Boneyard Preachers. Tim lent his guitar skills to the Blues Orbiters on their recording “Identity Theft” and his playing helped garner the band a B.B. award for Best Blues Recording of 2012.
Most recently, Tim was inducted into the Washington Blues Society Hall of Fame for his work with the band Stevie And The Blue Flames, a classic Northwest band featuring the great Steve Bailey on harmonica and vocals. The band was awarded the 2015 Hall of Fame B.B. Award.
Mr. Sherman, or “Stoop Down Slim” as he is known, has gigged multiple times with the legendary Isaac Scott, Little Bill, Dave Conant and Roomful of Blues vocalist and harmonica genius Mark Dufresne. He has shared the stage with blues greats John Mayall, Buddy Guy, Elvin Bishop, James Harman, Mark Hummel and Texas guitar master Anson Funderburgh. In 1992 he began performing with the Tim Sherman Band, winning B.B. nominations for his two CDs, “Them Trains, Them Bones, Them Lonesome Blues” and “Blues From The Left Coast”.
His current bands include the incendiary Joe Cook Blues Band featuring Minneapolis blues star Joe Cook on harmonica and vocals, Patty Mey on bass and drum master Conrad Ormsby; The Market Street Dixieland Jazz Band ( where he performs gutbucket blues and jazz on plectrum banjo ); and The Full Time Lovers: A Tribute to Austin Blues, partnering with the fabulous David Hudson on drums.
Tim has been teaching guitar since 1987, and always welcomes new students!
